I am a director of research at INRIA, now assigned to INRIA Sophia Antipolis - Méditerranée, based in Montpellier at LIRMM, on the mediterranean sea.

I am the director of the Atlas INRIA Project-Team, which deals with the management of complex data in distributed systems.

I was the general chair of VLDB 2009, Lyon, August 24-28 2009, which had 730 participants (44 nationalities).

In september 2009, I moved from LINA, Nantes to LIRMM, Montpellier.
